Oman Mountain & Desert Loop

A road trip through Oman offers stunning landscapes and rich culture. Experience dramatic mountains, serene deserts, and beautiful coastlines from Muscat to Nizwa. Stop at villages and local markets to Omani hospitality. Every turn reveals Oman’s beauty and warm spirit.

The Route

Distance: ~1,200 km

Duration: 7–10 days

Muscat

Oman’s elegant capital combines whitewashed architecture, seaside charm, and cultural gems. Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Mutrah Souq, and the Royal Opera House. The city's calm sophistication makes a perfect start to your journey.

Nizwa

A historic town framed by mountains, Nizwa is famous for its impressive fort, Friday goat market, and ancient souqs. It’s a great place to glimpse traditional Omani life and shop for silver, spices, and pottery.

Jebel Shams

Known as the “Grand Canyon of Arabia,” this towering peak offers jaw-dropping views and thrilling hikes along cliffside trails. Cool air, rugged terrain, and the Wadi Ghul canyon below make Jebel Shams a high-altitude highlight.

Wahiba Sands

Golden dunes stretch for miles in this classic Arabian desert. Ride camels, sandboard, or camp under vast skies in Bedouin-style tents. The silence and beauty of Wahiba make it one of the most authentic desert experiences in the Gulf.

Ras al Jinz

This coastal reserve is home to nesting green turtles. Watch them lay eggs or hatchlings crawl to the sea on guided night tours. The cliffs, beaches, and conservation center here offer a magical end to your journey.
